NECBAC Announces 2018 Book Scholarship Recipients
August 7, 2018
Colchester, VT – The Northeast Consortium Bridging Access to College (NECBAC) officially named a select group of high school graduates as Book Scholarship recipients for the 2018-2019 academic year. After the most competitive application process in NECBAC scholarship history with over 190 applicants, 5 deserving students were awarded $500.
Edgar Gonzalez, Assistant Dean of Admission at Amherst College, served on the selection committee. “It was inspiring to witness the deep pool of talented students who will attend NECBAC institutions. In my correspondence with students as well as in my review of their applications, I was struck by their exceptional maturity and know that they are on a great path towards success in college.”
NECBAC is a chartered, non-profit organization of professional admission representatives who are committed to access and affiliated with four-year private colleges and universities in the Northeast. In line with this mission, NECBAC scholarship recipients were all seniors who will matriculate to a NECBAC member institution. More information about the application process can be found at necbac.org.
“NECBAC is committed to providing opportunity to underrepresented students in higher education. These Book Award recipients have a passion for learning and will contribute to their communities in numerous ways. We’re happy to be a small part of their transition to college,” said NECBAC President, Miguel Santiago.
This year’s recipients from Connecticut, New York, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts will attend Amherst College, Wesleyan University, Bowdoin College, Providence College, and WPI. Congratulations, scholars!
