On behalf of the New England Counselors of Color Bridging Access to College, I thank you for taking the time to visit our website.  We hope that you will find the information on our website useful.  The resources available are there support the needs of both students and professionals alike.

As an organization, we focus much of our attention on higher education access, advocacy, and professional development.  NECBAC has continuously provided book scholarships of more than $300 to deserving students.  We strive to keep our membership up-to-date and knowledgeable on current trends and issues that impact the work that we do so that they can better serve our communities.

NECBAC has been in existence for more than 30 years.  The organization is comprised of over 40 member institutions representing four-year, private college and universities from across New England.  We also have a significant network of individuals who are no longer working at member institution but remain in roles pertaining college enrollment and retention of underrepresented student populations.  The representatives from our member institutions serve on at least one of six active committees that support the endeavors of our organization.

NECBAC is fortunate to have a seasoned and dedicated group of individuals who are committed to our mission and vision.  We welcome and encourage your feedback and suggestions about how we can continue to push for equity and access in education.  If you are interested in learning more about how your institution can become a part of NECBAC, I encourage you to contact us.  Please feel free to contact us if we can be of any assistance to you personally or professionally.

Sincerely,

William H. Johnson

About NECBAC...

The New England Counselors of Color Bridging Access to College (NECBAC) is a chartered, non-profit organization of professional admission representatives of color affiliated with four-year private colleges and universities who are dedicated to promoting enrollment and retention of students of color.

Purpose

We promote and provide access to higher education for students of color, low-income students, and first generation college students. We provide professional development and networking opportunities for our members.

Mission

To establish, maintain, and participate in cooperative programs, workshops, and materials designed to support the populations we serve in gaining access to college. While recognizing that each member may represent an individual institution, NECBAC is committed to providing students with information in order for them to make well informed higher education decisions. NECBAC provides relevant and practical professional development opportunities by identifying the needs of members to the profession and those seeking upward mobility in their careers, and using internal and external resources to meet those needs. We seek to remain fluid as the needs of our members and the communities we serve evolve.
